Students and Teachers Using a Digital Curriculum and Pedagogy in Secondary Mathematics

Compared how Desmos and Khan Academy shaped student discourse, mathematical exploration, and teachers' roles in a secondary classroom.

This master’s field study examined one secondary mathematics classroom using two kinds of digital curriculum: dynamic mathematics software, represented by Desmos, and assessment mathematics software, represented by Khan Academy. Classroom observations, teacher reflections, software records, student responses, and selected transcripts were used to compare the forms of discourse and participation each approach supported.
